Hyundai A League: Melbourne Victory vs. Melbourne City
Melbourne Victory went head to head against Melbourne City for the A-League derby at Etihad Stadium in front of 433,188 screaming fans.
Victory’s luck was in doubt from the moment the referees whistle echoed throughout the stadium as Melbourne City dominated the game to defeat Victory 4-1.
Tim Cahill once again shined on the field scoring City’s first goal at the 27th minute mark.
Despite City’s Neil Kilkenny receiving a yellow card, the team managed to score another goal against Victory when a pass from Nicolas Colazo to Bruno Fornaroli ended in a goal at the 32 minute mark, leaving City on a high just minutes before half time.
Victory only managed to score one goal shortly after the second half of the match , with Marco Rojas taking one home for the team.
Melbourne City however matched that goal, with Fernando Brandon scoring a goal only minutes after.
In a post match press conference Victory coach Kevin Muscat stated the match was disappointing for the team from start to finish, where he felt the club treated the fans to such a poor performance.
Despite the disturbing result, Muscat commented the loss will not impact the clubs performance in future matches.
